Seraphina by Rachel Hartman

HartmanWhen Seraphina, or Phina, was born, she knew that she was different from other people.  Seraphina was gifted with unusual musical talent.  Her father then forbid her to play any kind of music.  He kept the well-guarded secret from her ever knowing what she really is.  Her kind is called “ityasarri.”

In the kingdom of Goredd, there has been peace for 40 years until the murder of Prince Rufus.  The humans suspected dragons of killing him and this spawned a conflict between dragons and humans.

Orma, Seraphina’s tutor, is my favorite character; I liked when she saved a dragon who had adjusted to humans.  This is evidence of Orma being heroic in the story, which I would like to give this book a 5.  I would recommend it to those who like fantasies because this, in my opinion, is the best fantasy I’ve read.
