The Running Dream by Wendelin van Draanen

The Running Dream is about a 16 year old girl named Jessica who is a runner.  She loved to run because it was her favorite thing to do and she ran all the time.  But one day, she gets into a horrible accident and she loses her right leg.  When she wakes up in the hospital, all she thinks about is that her life is over and that she can’t run anymore.  But the doctor tells her she could walk with a prosthetic limb but she still wants to run.  When Jessica goes into therapy, she ends up meeting a girl named Rosa who has cerebral palsy and they become great friends.
